Get Them Talking is a monthly series of discussion starters created by the Member Team. They can be used by family, friends and even co-workers as devotions to spur conversations over a meal or just about any time. Each devotion consists of a Bible reading, a short reflection, several discussion-starter questions, a brief sentence prayer and an activity.

“We originally published 12 of them in 2019, but had no plans to continue,” shares Joe Iovino, our senior manager of member communications. “Then in late 2020, we began to hear how the pages continued to perform well on social media, especially when the prayers were made into memes.”

In keeping with the teams’ goal to inspire and inform United Methodists with content that meets their needs, the series was reprised. Each offering now match up with the editorial team’s monthly content theme. The renewed series will follow the same pattern as previous editions but this time presenting the prayers in an inspirational image format.

Treat yourself with some good conversations with your loved ones and give them a try yourself. The first two Get Them Talking for 2021—Transform and I’m sorry—are available on UMC.org.
