The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) leads and serves the denomination in recruiting, preparing, nurturing, educating and supporting Christian leaders, both lay and clergy. It assists those pursuing professional ministry through ordination, certification or licensed ministry. Resources and events help young adults and others hear, discern and respond to God’s call to ordained ministry. The agency also supports a network of 119 United Methodist-related schools, colleges and universities in the United States, including 13 schools of theology. Through a network of chaplaincies, Wesley Foundations, ecumenical ministries and church-based ministries, The United Methodist Church reaches more than 1,300 campuses around the world.
