Communications agency helps churches create impactful imagery
Nashville, Tennessee – A new facilitated course from United Methodist Communications aims to equip church leaders to easily create graphic designs and videos for social media, presentations and more. Outreach and Design Using Canva will be held August 15 through September 9, 2022. Designed with busy schedules in mind, the content will be delivered via the agency’s learning portal in an online self-paced format. Optional live web session gatherings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm CT will provide facilitated conversation and topical Q&As. Registration for the course will open on July 26th and close on August 10th.
Training highlights include:
Week 1: Orientation and Social Media Graphics – Start with a review of the benefits of Canva Pro and Canva for Teams accounts. The course will take a look at different kinds of social media post options and the built in Canva tool for planning and scheduling content.
Week 2: Creating Presentations Using Canva - Learn how to apply good design principles and utilize a vast library of templates to create stunning presentations. This portion will discuss Canva Recording Studio, various recording tips and options for sharing recordings.
Week 3: Videos and Video Editing - Explore the tools for downloading presentations, uploading video presentation into the Canva video editor and how to integrate videos with social media channels like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Week 4: Print Publications and Wrap-up - Discover ways to design and create a number of print publications for bulletins and newsletters, banners, business cards and apparel. This session will also touch on branding kits, logos and diving deeper into the use of the content planner.
“Our course facilitators are excited to share what we’ve been learning about Canva over the past year and helping people in ministry to get the most out of the resource,” said Senior Training and Development Specialist, John Haney. “It is a great tool for churches. Not only does Canva help non-designers create stunning graphics, it also helps them plan social media posts, create videos and presentations, keep content organized and much more.”
In advance of the facilitated course, trainees are encouraged to apply for a free Canva Pro account using their non-profit status as a church or church-related organization.
Outside of this learning opportunity, church leaders and volunteers can access United Methodist Communications’ full selection of self-serve online training courses at any time.
