GCAH SURPASSES #GIVINGTUESDAY2023 GOAL
More than $10,000 raised to support The UMC's Ministry of Memory

Madison, N.J. - Dozens of generous donors participated in #GivingTuesday2023 by making a donation to the General Commission on Archives and History, enabling the agency to surpass its goal of raising $10,000 in a single day. The final total of $10,300.90 exceeds #GivingTuesday2022's total and more than half of this year's donors were first-time contributors. Donors to the agency also took advantage of the dollar for dollar matching gift given by an anonymous donor.

Financial gifts support the many creative and innovative initiatives for the coming months and years, including:

  • Continue to create and publish online history courses designed for local church and small group use, including the new "Radicle Methodism," a four-part introductory history course available at no charge to local chuches and individuals;
  • Produce the American Methodism Pilgrimage, a multi-day tour of top Methodist sites;
  • Launch United Methodist Stories, an oral history software to easily capture stories of United Methodists throughout the connection in a secure repository;
  • Record and publish our podcast, "Un-Tied Methodism," which begins twice-a-month episodes in January;
  • Develop resources to get children and youth excited about Methodist history and heritage;
  • Continue the necessary transition to a digital repository, increasing access to our denomination's history for all.

Though #GivingTuesday2023 is officially over, 100% tax-deductible donations may be made online or by mailing a check made payable to GCAH to 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940.
