Hi UMCom colleagues,
As we celebrate the final days of Advent, I hope you take time to enjoy this season of hope and anticipation. It was great to see many of you at the Christmas party earlier this month; although we’ve learned to do virtual work well, gathering in person as a community remains a special time for interaction and team building.
Before we close out 2022, I wanted to give a few brief updates of hope for the new year:
- As you may have seen from a press release last week, United Methodist Men (UMM) will be relocating their offices from Music Row to join UMCom and the United Methodist Publishing house in our shared facility at 810 12th Avenue South. This move is exciting since it will further coordination of ministry work between the agencies while reducing facility redundancies for the denomination. We are excited to welcome UMM in early 2023.
- Performance reviews for 2022 are well underway. If we’re doing it right, the formal review should never be a surprise or something to stress over, as supervisors should be giving regular feedback during the year. However, the formal review is a way to document successes and plans as we go forward. Thanks for working together to get these completed by early January. Reach out to HR if you have any questions.
- As we approach 2023, I am excited to share that all UMCom employees who are in good standing and meeting performance expectations on the annual review will receive a 4% salary increase starting on the first paycheck in February. The board has approved this increase as appreciation for your continued dedication to the work of communication for The United Methodist Church. Thanks for all you do every day to set high standards and deliver excellent work.
The state of the UMC continues to shift around us, but we have a busy year ahead in 2023 as we reengage our strategic planning once the future structure and shape of the denomination become clearer as we approach General Conference in 2024. As I have said before, for now, we continue to focus on our four agency goals with the quality work you all do every day! We will gather again for a town hall in the first quarter to answer any questions you may have. In the meanwhile, always feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

May it be a magical holiday filled with joy and peace. In recognition of the Christmas holiday, UMCom will close at 12 Noon (Central) on Thursday, December 23rd, to get everyone a chance to finish any last-minute shopping or errands.
