Status and Role of Women
The General Commission on the Status and Role of Women advocates for full participation of women in the total life of The United Methodist Church. We’re helping the church recognize every person – clergy and lay, women and men, adults and children - as full and equal parts of God’s human family. We believe that a fully engaged and empowered membership is vital to The United Methodist Church’s mission "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

News and Updates

We at GCSRW stand with survivors of sexual abuse, harassment, and assault. We lament not only the harm done to victims and survivors, but the additional harm caused by silence, complicity, and re-traumatization.
Save the Date!
Do No Harm 2026: a virtual conference equipping the Church to prevent sexual harm and foster trauma-informed care. November 12–14, 2026.
GCSRW in collaboration with United Methodist general agency partners and ministry leaders worldwide, marks the 70th Anniversary of Women's Ordination milestone with a new downloadable worship resource celebrating the impact and faithful leadership of clergywomen across the connection.
The Monitoring Toolkit’s focus is centered around “A How-to Guide to Monitoring,” a comprehensive resource that outlines GCSRW’s mandate and purpose of monitoring, a timeline for the process, foundational definitions and guidance on what to monitor and how to do it.
