Below is a suggested prayer for church committees to use to open their meetings. United Methodist congregations may adapt this prayer freely for their use.
Almighty God,
We give you thanks for the many blessings you’ve bestowed on this congregation. We pray that as we come together in Christ’s name that you will open our hearts and minds so that your will may be done. Help us to make decisions that will bring glory to you, make disciples and strengthen the ministries of your congregation. We pray for all those who are gathered here tonight that your love may strengthen them. We pray for the congregation that it may continue to experience your blessings. We pray for our community that we as your holy church may be instruments of your grace and mercy to them.
We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
