UMCOR Sunday Email #1

Dear Leaders,

As we prepare for UMCOR Sunday, please know how deeply grateful we are for your efforts in raising awareness about UMCOR and the vital ministry it provides. UMCOR Sunday is more than just a special offering—it’s a celebration of the incredible work we accomplish together as United Methodists to bring hope and healing to those in need.

This Special Sunday offers the Church a chance to connect with ministries that make a global impact through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). Our support ensures the operational foundation that powers UMCOR’s life-changing work. While the official date is March 30, you can celebrate on a day that works best for your congregation.

The emails and announcements you’ll deliver over the next few weeks will help build excitement and awareness within your church. By sharing stories of UMCOR’s impact and encouraging generous giving, you’ll inspire the congregation to play an active role in this global ministry.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Learn more about UMCOR. Visit umcmission.org/umcor to understand UMCOR’s global impact.
  • Share personally. Talk about why UMCOR’s work matters to you and share a story that resonates or utilize the impact articles for stories that have touched communities around the world.
  • Create anticipation. Mention that UMCOR Sunday is coming soon and invite others to mark their calendars. Incorporate the promotional resources to help get the word out (pew cards, posters, infographics, videos and social graphics).
  • Pray Together: Lift up UMCOR’s ministries during group prayers or worship.

Thank you for inspiring your congregation to support UMCOR's humanitarian relief and recovery efforts because they create real and lasting change. Together we can provide healing and hope to the vulnerable people affected by crisis or chronic need.

In Christ,

The Promotion of Giving Team

Email 1: Deliver 5 Weeks Out

Email Title: "Three Weeks to UMCOR Sunday: Let’s Make an Impact Together"

Subject Line: "Be Part of the Mission on UMCOR Sunday"

Pretext: "Your gift on UMCOR Sunday changes lives around the world."

Email Body:

Dear [Church Family/Small Group],

I’m writing today to share about an important opportunity to make a difference in the world: UMCOR Sunday, coming up on [date].

On this Special Sunday, we will join together to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), a ministry dedicated to providing help and hope to those affected by disasters and hardships worldwide. Through our gifts, we ensure that UMCOR’s administrative costs are covered, allowing 100% of donations throughout the year to go directly to those in need.

Last year, our generosity empowered life-changing ministries like:

  • Disaster relief for communities devastated by hurricanes and wildfires.
  • Support for refugees seeking safety and stability.
  • Sustainable agriculture programs bringing hope and self-sufficiency to communities in Africa.

When we give, we enable UMCOR to respond quickly, efficiently, and compassionately, extending God’s love to the most vulnerable.

Please mark your calendars for UMCOR Sunday and prayerfully consider how you can contribute. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

Blessings,
