GCAH ANNOUNCES GIVING TUESDAY 2024 CAMPAIGN
Plans include new initiatives, matching gift, $10,000 goal and designated giving options available
Madison, N.J. - Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement, is set for Dec. 3. The General Commission on Archives and History (GCAH) is readying its plans for this single day of generosity. New to GCAH’s Giving Tuesday initiative this year is the opportunity to specify the area of impact for your generosity, as well as take advantage of a 25% boost to your gift toward the $10,000 goal.
Here are a few details to know:
- Designate your gift. This year, you can choose your financial gift’s impact from one of the following areas:
Heritage landmarks of The UMC: Heritage landmarks are places and spaces that have contributed in a significant manner to the overall story of United Methodism.
Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage: Support the collection, preservation and story-telling of LGBTQ+ United Methodists.
Digitization of the archives: Increase accessibility while contributing to The UMC’s Net Zero commitment by supporting digitization efforts of archived materials.
General funds of GCAH: Support The UMC Book of Discipline mandates of promoting and preserving our heritage. - Double your impact. Thanks to a generous donor, every dollar you give up to $2,500 will be matched. Give early to ensure you’re part of the matching gift opportunity!
- Throughout Giving Tuesday, follow along on the agency’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) for updates and surprises.
- Your tax-deductible gift to GCAH enables the ministry to tell the story of The United Methodist Church, as well as partners with us to share resources and opportunities for our history to be discovered and preserved.
- Three ways to give.
Two ways to give online: Venmo or Vanco. Note: If using Venmo, please indicate which area of giving your gift supports; without a note, the gift will go to the General Fund.
Giving by check: Mail checks made payable to GCAH to 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940. Indicate area of impact in the memo line.
As we move toward 2025, GCAH has creative and innovative initiatives for the coming years:
- Continue to create and publish online history courses designed for local church and small group use, including the new-in-2025 “Rooted Methodism,” a second installment following “Radicle Methodism,” the introductory history course available at no charge to local churches and individuals;
- Produce the American Methodist Pilgrimage, a multi-day tour of top Methodist sites set for October 2025;
- Record and publish our podcast, "Un-Tied Methodism.”
- Develop resources to get children and youth excited about Methodist history and heritage
- Continuing the necessary transition to a digital repository, increasing access to our denomination's history for all while living into The UMC’s Net Zero commitment.
Thank you for your consideration and generosity to be part of this exciting opportunity to preserve, contextualize and envision the future of The United Methodist Church.
