Dear Church Leader,
When Adazia Mellott began searching for a college to attend, the price was a major factor. Her clergy father encouraged her to visit Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, located about three hours from her home. She immediately fell in love with Geneva and followed her father’s urging to apply for a Gift of Hope Scholarship, funded through gifts to the United Methodist Student Day offering that is received annually on the last Sunday of November (or on a date that is most convenient for local congregations).
“I owe it all to the people who gave to me through these scholarships,” Mellott said, “because without them I wouldn’t have been able to choose the college God intended for me.” Mellott plans to become a missionary nurse. “I want to show others the love of Christ,” she continued. “There’s a lot of injustice in the world and shining light in a broken person’s life can make all the difference.”

“The main hope of a nation lies in the proper education of our youth.”—Desiderius Rasmus Roterodamus, Dutch philosopher
This Sunday, November 26, 2023, we will gather together to celebrate United Methodist Student Day. Please join us as we worship God, pray for our students and give a generous offering to provide Gift of Hope Scholarships for them. In 2022, United Methodists gave $223,612 to United Methodist Student Day scholarships. Together with other United Methodists, we can give more scholarships to our students.
Gifts to the United Methodist Student Day offering help send young leaders into the world with the justice-seeking, healing and compassionate values that have been instilled in them.
Thank you for your generosity.
