October 28, 2005

Revised Structure of the Louisiana Annual Conference as Required by Decision 983.

Digest

The Louisiana Annual Conference Structure and Rules conform with the 2000 Discipline and the decisions of the Judicial Council.

Statement of Facts

At the June 8, 2005, session of the Louisiana Annual Conference, the revised Conference Structure and Rules (the Plan) was adopted. The Plan has been before the Judicial Council for review and approval on four prior occasions in Decisions 835, 878, 900, and 983. In Decision 983, the Judicial Council found that deficiencies continued to exist and once again returned the Plan to the Louisiana Annual Conference holding that it was null, void, and of no effect. The Plan was remanded to the Louisiana Annual Conference for revision, adoption and resubmission to the Judicial Council for review and approval. The Louisiana Annual Conference submitted the revisions of its Plan as directed.

Jurisdiction

The Judicial Council has jurisdiction under Decisions 835, 878, 900, and 983.

Analysis and Rationale

The Louisiana Annual Conference Structure and Rules meets the requirements set forth for curing the deficiencies as established by Decision 983. The Louisiana Annual Conference should update the Plan to conform to the 2004 Discipline at its next annual conference. The Louisiana Annual Conference is to be commended to its persistence and diligence in meeting the disciplinary requirements for its conference structure.
